STAY AT HOMER FASHION WEEK

Oscars are about to happen! And as we all sit down on our couches and begin ripping human beings to pieces based on their ugly clothes and hair mishaps, I am reminded of my own fashion stylings. It’s that time of year again when I re-visit my wardrobe and share with you the new 2014 Stay At Homer fashions. Let’s take a look at the at what’s hot in “at home” wardrobe!

This year, and every year actually, it’s all about comfort and, well, more comfort. Comfort is king. So this year sweats are IN! Tight fitting jeans are OUT! Again! Those poor tight fitting jeans just can’t ever seem to make it into my wardrobe. I don’t think anyone is complaining, though.

Jump out of bed, and jump into this years hot new look. I call this one The Lazy Hippy. Recycling that t-shirt that you made that one time when your kids all made tie-dye t-shirts. Your t-shirt was made just for fun, except that it turned out to be a really comfortable shirt. And since comfort is king, it fit nicely into my collection paired with some cozy sweats. Great for making breakfast and folding laundry. It’s a must have.

Taking the kids to school? Not a problem. Polo shirt and a pair of baggie pants. I usually use a pair of holey socks and my New Balance sneakers (COMFORT). This, according to my wife, is my “uniform.” If this is a uniform, then here I am, reporting for duty! I accessorize with a sweatshirt based on weather. And always, always wear a hat. It’s a signature look, and when you wear a different hat, it looks like you are wearing a completely different outfit. Notice the variations!

Look how the sweatshirt changes EVERYTHING!

Back at home, it’s into some shorts or sweats and a comfortable t shirt. In the afternoon I like to wear something that, when a person potentially comes to the door, they think, “This guy is comfortable” as opposed to, “wow, somebody in this guys family probably died, and he looks three weeks into a depression. ” So to stay looking positive, maybe I’ll add a belt to the shorts and wear a hat backwards…this says, “I caught this guy in the middle of a “PROJECT.”

“Oh hi! You caught me in the middle of some hammering home repairings…how can I help you?”

It’s the end of the day, and I’m back to my old standby: sweats and a tshirt. This is my “lookin’ like I’m cookin’” outfit. Notice the lack of apron? My fun fashions are so easy, and of such low quality, that it really doesn’t matter if you stain them with food…so there’s no need for those difficult to tie, bulky aprons! What a fantastic fashion! Easily accessorized with either a beer, or glass of wine.
